Colour Picture is a story built on restraint but getting there requires intention, planning, and trust. This page is a window into the process: the people, the decisions, and the invisible labour behind every scene.
Where It Started
The script began as a personal exploration of grief, silence, and the unspoken dynamics that define family relationships. Over time, it evolved into a layered, character-driven mystery. One that uses a detective structure to surface deeper emotional truths.
Writing this story meant asking hard questions: not just “what happened,” but “what was never said and why?”
The Making Of a Small Crew Feature
We're approaching this project with precision and efficiency:
7-day shoot
6 speaking roles, 3 interior locations
2-person crew (DP + sound)
Minimal moves, long takes, focused blocking
No extras, no complex setups
The production is designed to support performance, not overwhelm it.
DIY with Intention
The film will be made entirely on owned equipment: camera, lighting, sound. The director is also taking on editing and post, ensuring a unified visual and emotional tone throughout.
We’ve built this process to be nimble. When things shift, we adapt.
A Team That Believes
Every collaborator is here because they believe in the story and in doing things right, even at a small scale. No one’s working for exposure. We’re fundraising $15,000 to pay our cast and crew fairly. Everything else is in-kind.
Coming Updates
Throughout production and post, this page will feature:
Short entries from the director’s process journal
Scheduling wins (and problems)
Team check-ins
